I'm going to Perth!
You may remember that lately I’ve talked a lot about UNIMA 2008 - the international puppetry conference happening in Perth next year. Well, I’ve been planning on going to it for a while now - already booked my registration - and have some great news!
I applied for a small travel grant being offered by Murphy’s Puppets in Sydney. The grant is enough to cover at the very least, my return flights, and I’m extremely grateful to Murphy’s Puppets for offering it to me!
I can remember attending the 2002 Puppet and Animatronic Conference here in Melbourne (sponsored by the guys at the now-defunct Handspan puppetry company) and I tell you what, it’s an amazing opportunity to go to these things. You get to sit in on talks with well-known performers, producers and makers; many of which cover insights and behind-the-scenes stuff that no fan will ever hear. You get to take part in forums and discussions, see shows from around the world… There’s so much to do in Perth next year, and I’m so excited I can be a part of it.
And now it’s all made a little easier with my travel grant! Thanks again Murphy, I hope I can meet you in person at the conference next year!
