13 May 2008 Happy puppets?
If you’re in Australia, you might have seen those Bankwest ads… you know, the sun sitting in a chair, talking about what makes people happy. It’s sort of a take on Aardman’s Creature Features, only, you know, for banks. Anyway, they’ve got a new one on lately that’s an actual puppet (the other sun is CGI). I started to look at it properly tonight, because it occurred to me that it’s quite well done. It has a small mouth, kind of muppet like, and it’s quite clearly rod-operated, with a mechanism running down the stem, through the pot, and into the couch. Behind which is a puppeteer no doubt. Anyway, I started to think it would be interesting to find out who made the ads, and who’s behind the puppet. So naturally, I google.
I not only come across Bank West’s Youtube profile, but this strange little site: apparently, this sun puppet is not the only creation they’ve made… I’m guessing the rest are CGI, but it’s kind of hard to tell..
Anyone actually know who made the sun puppet? EDIT: Upon further thinking, I’ve come to the conclusion the sun is also CGI, although cleverly done.
