19 Aug 2008 Busy...
I’ve been pretty busy last week working on a commission. It’s been a little frustrating, because it’s kept me away from some other stuff I have planned.
I’m hoping to get the finger puppet pattern online towards the end of this week; just some last minute edits to do and a short video to create. I’m then moving back a step and doing a muppet pattern. I hadn’t planned on finishing it - I’m rather sick of muppets at the moment - but I can see that I’m missing out on a big market if I don’t. Plus there are a few other reasons why I might as well…
I’m really actually wanting to make more shadow puppets, and started making one last week. I’ve gotten the design made, but got sidetracked as mentioned above. I also bought two products to test: some ‘fantasy film’, which is used to make fairy wings on polymer clay dolls. I’ve tried it out already, and it looks like a great way to make coloured shadow puppets; it’s also cheaper than buying lighting gel, which is what I previously used.
The other product is Plastidip, which came yesterday. This is a spray-on rubber coating, used for making rubber handles on tools. I’m planning on making rubber-coated shadow puppet rods. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m looking forward to it. I normally use coathanger rods that are already covered in black plastic, but the ones I’ve been buying lately are thicker in wire diameter, and are harder to bend than the plain wire coathangers.
Anyway… back to it I suppose.
