25 Sep 2008 Aaarrggh!
Lucky that title has no "V’s"… because this morning, I managed somehow to knock the V button off my laptop. So I’m having to really press hard on that bit underneath the button to get the V to work… you have no idea how many of those letters you use each time you type.
That makes it official. I’m buying a new computer. The last month my computer has gone into a high pitch mode after using it for all of half an hour… my left arrow doesn’t work… and last week I had the blue screen of death come and go so quickly I still don’t know why it appeared.
Now the question is… what to buy? This is where having resident computer geeks in the house comes in handy. My dad, of course wants me to buy an Apple (I say of course, because he was an employee of theirs for a while, and is still so much in love with them he went to the opening of an Apple store last week for the ‘atmosphere’… and lined up for several hours beforehand :crazy
, but I’m not sure about it. Frankly, I can’t really afford a new computer.
This one was a hand-me-down, thanks to my dad having one to sell from his job. I got it pretty cheap because it was old (it’s about 6 years old, which is ancient in computerland). Only cost me about $1k, which is fairly decent.
My other main concern is that eh-eh-everything is on this computer, and though I have some things backed up, I’ve been terribly lax about others. If my computer suddenly stops working (knock on wood), I’m screwed.
So I think next weekend I’ll be computer shopping. I’d do it sooner but the parents are in Alice Springs (lucky them) for a couple of weeks. … Maybe I can go get a shiny Mac as a very early birthday present B)
In the meantime, let’s all pray I don’t lose any more keys… especially not the E!
