11 Dec 2008 Apologies
If you didn’t get the message - which is quite likely - from 5pm AEST (+11 GMT) yesterday my site just stopped working. I couldn’t access the backend, the frontend, not even my files. Which is kind of funny, because my other two websites (thepromptcopy; the second one is my dad’s) worked fine and I could access them no problem. I reported the issue to my web host, and we began a slow process of trying to work out what was wrong; there was no indication really of what happened. I checked things from my end as much as possible, and luckily the issue was on the web hosts’ side (luckily I mean in that it wasn’t my fault because of bad coding or something or other).
Basically it was an issue with their server, and they spent all of last night fixing it. Everything is resolved and back to working now.
A big apology to anyone who visited the site (that’s the lowest dip in web stats I’ve ever seen) and found it not there. I assure you if I could have at least had access to the files I would have added a redirect or a message of some sort to let people know what was going on.
Also a big apology to anyone who tried to use the Shop; fortunately the problem doesn’t seem to have majorly affected anything and all is restored.
Because I spent most of last night worrying about this I’m a bit behind. I had planned on doing a book review for tomorrow, but instead Friday’s post will have all sorts of fun news about the class I taught today! Stay tuned!
