26 Mar 2009 I won!
Whoohoo! I’m so happy I just had to share the good news and not wait until tomorrow: I won the Lorrie Gardner UNIMA Australia scholarship! They are giving me a small grant towards going to the puppetry festival in Atlanta, and will publish an article on it written by me in the UNIMA Aus. magazine when I get back.
I can’t believe it. I normally don’t win these sorts of things, and kind of expected the grant to go to someone ‘more deserving’ (ie. someone more well known perhaps or busy producing shows).
Thank you so much to the UNIMA Australia board and the Lorrie Gardner Scholarship committee, Sue, Joanne and Philip. A short tip of the rod to Hilary for suggesting applying in the first place - I probably wouldn’t have thought of it if you hadn’t have mentioned it to me. This really does help me a lot, and I’m so grateful to all of you for believing in me and giving me the chance to get out there and do some puppetry.
Handy link: some more info about the trip.
(Side note: I will be posting pics and recap of my puppetry class from today, tomorrow. It was eventful, good and disappointing all at the same time… Anyway, more on that tomorrow)
