27 Mar 2009 Oyster shadow puppet now for sale!
This puppet is no longer available for purchase. However, you can still browse the pics, see link below.
I’ve been wanting to do this one for a while. I liked the idea of a singing oyster, like what’s in The Little Mermaid (I hope that’s the right movie, I haven’t seen it in about 15 years). While hunting for some transparent paper I came across a really lovely rainbow-patterned crepe paper, and thought it would make a good material for a shell. It worked out better than I thought, because the colours come through really well (although perhaps not in the video below, which for some reason I still can’t get the settings right on my camera). I came up with the idea of using doubling the paper to create the ‘3D’ feel of the shell. I also added a bonus in the product: it comes with a white ‘pearl’ sticker, which you can attach at your discretion. You can find more pics about the puppet here. The puppet itself is no longer available to buy.
I’m going to be spending the weekend working on the moppet pattern. I am so very behind on that…
