Puppets in Melbourne

Behind the wild things

Before we get to the actual topic of this post, some catching up: the weekend was particularly successful, in that I got the next section of the moppet pattern completed and sent to testers. I also managed to make up three (!) new shadow puppet patterns, which I’ll be using in my class this week. Two of them will be made freebies here when I’ve finished the rest of the preparations for the class. Why two? Well, because it’s actually one puppet, it just has two different versions. More on that later.

Today I’m catching up on some errands and continuing making these patterns for my class… so more link blogging is in order.

Everybody’s posted about this already, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t: because it’s Melbourne based! Where the Wild Things Are is now available to preview - the movie, remember? - including a nice little behind the scenes blogging by one of the puppeteers. This blog is a definite must-read for us Aussies, but you other nationalities will enjoy it too: plenty of interesting stuff about making puppets. Anyway, the trailer is below for your viewing pleasure.
