22 Jun 2009 Continuing the upgrade to the new shop
You may have noticed yesterday that I posted a new product - or rather, reposted - on the site. I’m finally starting to transfer all of the patterns across to the new system. So I’m now selling all of my patterns on Lulu (http://store.lulu.com/puppetsinmelbourne if you’re interested). I decided to sell there for two main reasons: one, Etsy has no real method of selling pdf files, other than me emailing the file once someone pays. That would work fine for small files, but my moppet pattern is huge and would quickly bounce. Lulu on the other hand can cope with large files. The second reason is that I checked out Amazon, and they only allow ebooks to be used on Kindles (small handheld device for reading ebooks), so even though I’d be listed on Amazon, only a small percentage of people would be able to buy the pattern.
There are other benefits to Lulu; there are no setup fees for selling ebooks, so I get 95% of the listed price. There is a preview function, so people can look at some of the instructions in the pattern before they buy. And the big plus: I don’t have to worry about any of the process of buying and then sending the files. It’s all done for me. (I’m not trying to plug the site here, just explaining how it all works)
I’m hoping to have all of the patterns uploaded by the end of the week. I’m feeling the pinch now of having to go away - I had a dream last night that I hadn’t packed even though I was supposed to leave in an hour - so there’s lots of admin stuff to be done before I go.
I’m also quietly scheming a few things for my trip, which will involve you, the reader! You’ll just have to keep watching this space
