6 Aug 2009 New shadow puppet for sale!
Ok, so maybe next week I’ll take a break… I guess there’s just too much to do to stop posting for a bit.
UPDATE: This puppet is no longer for sale. However, you can still view it here.
Whilst I’m here, if you’ve been using the RSS feed for the shop news (not the main website RSS feed, but the one just for posts on product news) and haven’t been receiving updates, I apologise. My recent changes with updated templates and links caused some posts to go missing. Things should work now.
But anyway, this makes the last shadow puppet in what I’m dubbing my ‘Aquaria’ set (see www.bit-blot.com - great graphics to be inspired from). I will be making up a set of scenery to go with it, plus offering some or all of the puppets as an actual set to buy at once. Next year I will make a new set with a new theme. (Yeah, I know six months is a long time to wait for a new theme, but given the amount of other projects I’ve got on, it will give me some time to work on marketing what I’ve got already and work on other builds) In fact, I already know what the next theme is, have a pattern for one of the designs, and have a couple of new techniques for even better shadow puppetry.
So here we go, the last of the Aquaria set, a starfish puppet. Video is below. This build was quite challenging, and I’d been putting it off for a while, because whilst I had the perfect design, I wasn’t sure how best to make the parts. In the end I just cut it up as I was going and hoped for the best. What seemed at first to be some awkward and stiff movement soon became a quirk: the puppet doesn’t move, so much as it ‘warps’. See the video and you’ll get what I mean…
