7 Oct 2009 Another new PB! And some other cool stuff
Well, I’ve just made 1071 hits in one day - that’s 30 hits up from the previous PB. At first I thought it was a fluke, but then noticed that posting later in the evening was bringing my stats up a little (I usually post around 10.30am or a bit later, now I’m posting at midnight). Not only has that given me about 50 or so more hits per day, but one other change has helped: I’ve been quietly taking the time here and there to continue adding tags to all my posts, which allow the ‘relative posts’ plugin to find similarly tagged posts and showcase them underneath the content. Although people don’t seem to be spending more time reading the site, they are definitely clicking on more links. Ultimately, I’m not sure how I feel about that, since they often miss the info that’s there in front of their eyes, and instead blindly click away… at least they’re clicking away to another page on my site, and not someone else’s. In any case, since much of the tagging has been done to a lot of articles on the Learn Online page, it’s increased hits. I’m currently working my way through the UNIMA 2008 diary posts, which is good because a lot of them have old URLS going nowhere, instead of linking to the next/previous day’s diary post.
On a slightly related note, I’ve been trying to prepare for my marketplace selling - only a month away now, and I still don’t have stock!! - and have come to a realisation. I have some business cards made up, and recently ordered some more to be ready. The only problem is they’re not really business-card sized (3 inches X 3 inches), and are getting wrecked in my normal-sized wallet. So I thought I’d be a little classy and buy myself a card holder for them. I was just going to go with a metal case, but it occured to me to find someone on Etsy who sells wallets. And I just happened across the coolest thing ever: a monster wallet by SquareJane. Actually, a custom monster wallet (she’s since not renewed the listing for the custom wallet, but there is a monster wallet still pictured) I liked the work, the price was right ($10 USD) and the listing said that other sizes could be requested; I asked if she could do other things than monsters, and she said yes…

This is what I got in the mail today. Two custom wallets with ‘Doc’ as the image on the front, instead of a monster. This is pretty neat, and as you can see, my business cards fit in really well. I have to say a big thanks to SquareJane: I got two wallets for the price of one, because there had been a mix up with the sizing. Hey, I’ll find some use for it
. This order was made about a week ago (she’s in Canada), so it’s quick turnaround on a custom design, and she was friendly and very quick to respond to questions. So if you want a custom wallet, or some funky clothing (she’s currently doing a whole Halloweenish type theme), check her stuff out.
I’m quite enjoying Doc being turned from a puppet into a logo design and now into a 2D character using vinyl… He’s got versatility, I’ll give him that!
