13 Oct 2009 Getting to Sesame Street
Today’s link, Sesame Street or Bust, is written by friend Jarrod Fairclough. I’ve kind of been keeping what he’s been up to hush-hush, since I wasn’t sure what I could or couldn’t say… but now he’s writing a blog about it, so there’s no point in keeping mum. As the title of the blog suggests, it’s all about his attempt to get to Sesame Street - literally! He’s a big fan of the show and wants to be a muppeteer, and has spent the better part of this year trying to audition for the show. Oh, did I mention he’s also currently living in Australia and is 20 years old? Yeah, even with this obvious difficulty - the fact he’s here, not the fact he’s young - Jarrod has been working hard at it. He and Sean (the one studying at Swinburne currently) took a trip to New York at the end of last year, and together went to the set of Sesame Street and made friends with many of the puppeteers. Jarrod’s pretty lucky to have direct contact with those who are in charge of auditions; but so far no news as to whether or not he’s in. Follow the rest of his story at the link above (as well as a recount of the trip to Sesame Street earlier in the year)… I know I’m very excited to read more about it, especially as I wrote a character reference for Jarrod to send off with the tape. Between the two of them, I have no doubt that Sean and Jarrod’s determination will get them far. I cross my fingers and toes that Jarrod gets in!
