Take a look at the graph below. This is pretty much the stats for my site for the past 30 days, up until 21 Oct, 11.23pm (ie. now). The big peak was the last PB for stats. You can see a pretty noticeable increase, in the last couple of weeks, but generally 600-800 hits is where I average out. (Sadly, return visitors are always low. I figure though, those returning are probably subscribers anyway) The peak comes right around the last batch of me adding tags to posts and inter-linking them.

A considerable increase can be shown over the last 60 days, it’s quite clear I’m now trending towards more than 1000 hits to the site per day - I didn’t post last night and still got more than 1000 hits

Wow! That’s a huge improvement over a year. From averaging around 400 hits per day last year, to 500-600, then to 600-800, and now 1000. And with it comes a slight increase on actual visitors too - although visitors are now also staying on my site longer (not shown in graph/s). This is pretty cool, and if I finish doing the tags/inter-linking, I wonder how many more hits I’ll get. Aim for 2000 I think
