1 Dec 2009 Darn videos
Over the weekend I’ve been working more on this new shadow puppet design, and just a few hours ago attempted to get the video filmed for it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.
I was trying to use the shadow puppet screen I took with me to the market, but sadly the legs are wrecked and I had to remake them. I finally got the screen to work and discovered the ironing board upon which I film is wonky. I weight it down only to find that the regular light for filming is casting too bright and washing out the puppet; I swap to a different lamp and that’s too dark. In the end, I used the original light, but mounted it to the top of the screen… which created the perfect beam, capturing the puppet beautifully. I shoot some footage of the puppet, albeit not that greatly manipulated, only to now see on my laptop that the features aren’t appearing well because the lamination turned out a little warped.
I thought that perhaps the footage was salvageable, but the detail is really important on this one, so I can’t afford to lose any part of the puppet to blurring or warping.
… I did hope to have the video and puppet ready for today’s post, but I guess not. Instead I’ll attempt it again for tomorrow.
