11 Feb 2010 Some general admin
The last couple of days I’ve spent doing some general admin for the site, including getting back to making the next new moppet pattern come to life (er, I mean, getting it online). I’ve been doing some fiddling on the School of Puppetry site ready, so that I can re-start the clock on running moppet building classes. Unfortunately, it’s taken me half the day to try to get a new forums board on it (the one I’m currently using is a ‘hack’/plugin for the blog and not really well-written enough at this point to use it that way). Sadly I had it all up and running, was styling the forum skin, at which point I got locked out - I couldn’t even load the page! I figured it was my net connection, which has returned to pre-July 2009 habit of cutting in and out every five seconds. But no, everything else could load, from my own site, to half a dozen others. I tried both Firefox and IE, thinking it might be browser-related. Nope. Even the "is [site] down for me or everyone else" tool said the forums worked.
In the end I decided it was probably something server-related, so I’ve had to start again. Luckily I backed up the changes to the skin before removing everything, as I think I may have solved the issue (I installed on a subdomain, which is something I never seem to get to work, but still manage to forget and try).
I’m hoping to have the site completely done by tomorrow, at which point I’ll spend the next couple of days getting the pattern uploaded and linked and pretty!
