Puppet eyes removed from products
As with the puppet noses, I’ve removed the puppet eyes from the product list on PIM. Don’t worry, each design (four in total) will be turned into a tutorial for the new and improved SOP site… perhaps not for a while, because I seem to be at a cul de sac with both redesigns. Sigh… I knew this would be an issue: handing design over to someone else means it doesn’t get done as fast as doing it myself would. I’d do a new design myself, but for the fact that I think both sites need a new pair of eyes to get a better look and functionality.
(Er, PS, since I’m writing shorthand lately, I thought it would be a good idea to link the acronyms to the actual sites so people aren’t confused. Geez I love my blog software, which does it automatically!)
I will add that some great comments have come in about my last blog post, which has given me food for thought which I will share soon: to those that have emailed me, I’ll answer as soon as I can. As usual, my life deigns to get more screwy when a deadline appears: my laptop’s charger has broken, my laptop died, and apparently a new charger has to be ordered. Of course, there is a desktop in the study, but typically it didn’t like me and goes all blue-screen-of-death every time I start it. I can barely get the darn thing to load, let alone access email. (I am lucky in that I found a spare charger in the meantime, but only after several hours of trying to find it) So yeah, bear with me because…
This morning we had an UNIMA Aus. committee meeting and I got approval for my relaunch schedule for the new UNIMA site. Unfortunately, it’s all geared up for the next month. Tonight I start removing all the stuff that’s on the site (in fact, I’ve already done it and am now transferring all the new files across), and then I have a deadline to get it all done by this weekend. I’m hoping it will be done sooner, but probably not. Then on the 8th June I have a ’soft launch’ with select people testing and accessing, before the big public reveal on the 22nd June. Whilst I’m not expecting it to be too much of a workload (I’ve taken a bit of a holiday last week, enjoying not having to stare at computer code for once), I also don’t expect it to go smoothly. There’s a lot of stuff that could only be done last minute, and I am also worryingly checking to see if there is a potential security flaw in some of the code which was reported only last week. …
Luckily I have some stuff saved up that I can post this week, and it’s not too much hassle to get it online. Don’t worry, I’ve got some thoughts tumbling around in my head (er, no, not tumbleweeds
) for some ways to make things more interesting for all of us… But more on that later!
