9 Jun 2010 Soft landing
I’d like to say I’ve got something really well-written for today’s post; but alas, I have no energy left. I’ve spent most of the day preparing for, and actually running, the soft launch of UNIMA Australia’s website. It went fairly easily, with only some minor updates needing to be done, but it did take me a while to get through. I never noticed before, but on the old website, there was some 90 profiles listed, all of which I had to manually add to the new site (luckily, ‘transfer’ mainly means add a password and email address so people can login), but since the old site was so out of date, a few bounced on me.
Nevertheless, I’ve spent the last few hours revelling in getting closer to the public launch, and occasionally (one might say obsessively) logging into the backend of the site to check everything’s working ok. The fun part of adding all of the new members one-by-one is that I can also see who’s logged in at any given time; and I was very happy to see people logging in and giving their profiles an update. Fingers crossed there won’t be much negative feedback!
Luckily this also means that - if nothing goes horrendously wrong in the meantime - the bulk of the work is now completed on the site. The public launch will be about as strenuous as flipping a switch. Of course, now that I’ve said that… ![]()
But I’m also happy to report I’m feeling much better since getting some antibiotics, and tomorrow I have a complete day to plan and execute a decent post on actual puppetry.
