Free finger puppet patterns

(If you’re looking for patterns for other puppet types, please use the menu to the right and select the ‘Free patterns’ category; you’ll find more lists there)

I will be adding to this list as I find more patterns. Please note that these patterns come free courtesy of the credited people; please respect their wishes for creditation (if requested) if you publish the link elsewhere. The following patterns are not ALL for crochet or knitting. They include sewing patterns or things you can glue.

Why so few free puppet patterns? Find the answer here. Read the article dispelling some myths about free patterns. Read the posts on making a finger puppet here and here, how long does it take to make a finger puppet, what materials to use. History of finger puppets is here.

I am looking for a crocheted hand puppet pattern that is NOT a finger puppet. I made them when my children were little and now want to make them for my grandchildren. They fit on your hand similar to a mitten, with a mouth to open and close. I have a zebra, frog and tiger. I am going to try to make up a pattern from the original puppets, but it sure would be simpler to have the pattern! Thanks!

Hi Barbara, Not being much of a knitter I don't have any patterns to share, but I did have a look on the net and came across these: A sock monkey hand puppet: http://crochetme.com/patterns/sock-monkey-hand-puppet and some other handy sites: http://yourcrochetlearntocrochet.blogspot.com/ http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com http://www.allcrafts.net/crochetknit.htm and a forum for people who want to crochet: http://crochetme.com/forum You may also want to check etsy.com or ebay, where people often sell craft and crochet patterns. Here's a site which sells a pattern: http://www.karensvariety.com/CopyPatterns/Children/AnimalHandPuppets.htm I'm sorry I can't find a pattern specific to what you want, but I'm sure if you visit the above sites and have a look/ask around, someone will be able to point you in the right direction. Cheers, Naomi
