Puppets in Melbourne

Festival in China wants you!

Gary Friedman reports that UNIMA China is launching a puppetry festival that will run in November this year (2009). The Shanghai International Puppet Festival is looking for performances to present during the event; they must be between 45 to 70 minutes long, with a max of 12 performers. The organising committee will pay for accommodation, meals and transportation (in Shanghai only, performers must pay their own travel expenses to and from the country if coming from overseas, including transportation of sets, etc). There are also awards to be won, including Best Performance, Best Performer, Best Director, Best Creative (? I have no idea what that means…), Best Design, Best Composition…

If you’re interested in participating, contact the committee before 31 May 2009; Ms. He Xiaoqiong & Ms. Zhao Xue can be contacted here
