How to make a shadow puppet - Long Dog
This tutorial is being present as part of a live internet workshop on 12th June 2009, 11am (Australian Eastern time). As such, once the workshop has been recorded, it will be embedded here. The live workshop/video will contain instructions on how to use the below pattern, so please either join the workshop or check back later for the update and video. UPDATE: Please find the video tutorials posted below the materials and tools section; they may take a while to load once you press play as they are each about 25 minutes long. If you have any questions, or something’s not clear in the videos, please leave a comment; the downside of doing it live is not really having a script, or missing something you meant to say but didn’t…
Please note: this pattern includes two versions of a dog. One is ‘long’ and one is ’short’. More patterns can be found here!
Materials and tools needed
- Download the pattern here
- Black cardboard - two sheets A4 sized
- Pencil
- Scissors and/or box cutter and/or scalpel
- Paper brads - smallest size possible is best
- Masking tape
- Two skewers (alternatively, some proper shadow puppet rods, made out of dowel and wire - this is more of a beginners/child-friendly tutorial, so skewers are exchanged for more professional rods)
