Puptcrit - international resource for everything puppet

You’ll notice this post comes under lots of category headings. That’s because Puptcrit covers a lot of topics. What is Puptcrit? It’s perhaps the largest and most well-known forum for discussing puppetry on the net. It’s an ‘old school’ email discussion, a lot like Yahoo Groups discussion boards and the new Google groups; you sign up and you can receive and send emails to the group. Hundreds of people from around the world are signed up, including a lot of American notables. Best of all, the topics range: current discussions this week have included tips on using hot glue guns, advertisements for marionettes being auctioned on eBay, puppeteers in the media, thoughts on Avenue Q, and a few weeks back some stuff on making papier mache. I’ve only recently joined the group - a few months ago - but am already seeing why people like it so much. It’s a very immediate way to meet and discuss with others in the puppetry industry, and the discussions are not only useful, but inspiring. Plus, it goes out to such a large number of people that any advertisement is sure to get a decent amount of hits, interest, or at least, discussion.

Like Puppets and Stuff, it’s an excellent resource for those in the community, and I’m really glad I signed up. Go to their site above, click on the first link, then join up at the bottom of the page. Their website is a little hard to navigate, but once you sign up, getting involved is as easy as pressing reply on the email digest forwarded to you.
