I think it's important to add Tim Denton's help to the course this year. He filled in for Julia while she was interstate (was she at Unima? Was that this year?) and worked on the first year puppets with them, he then also returned for 10 sessions with us in the 2nd year puppetry element of EVP4 [EDIT from Naomi: EVP 4 refers to the fourth semester production]. His work is fantastic and I know everyone (first and second years) enjoyed working with him.

We did not work on Moomba through Swinburne for the last two years. However I did get a job offer through JB for Moomba last year and a few of us got those jobs that were on offer, but that was separate to the course.

I know there is a big interest in really working on the puppetry section of the course. I think there's a number of things that have to be done to do that, but I think what we did for EVP4 may have really helped get the ball rolling, even if it does return to a full group production combining circus and puppetry again. [EDIT from Naomi: Sean is referring to his small show my company helped produce. You can find more info about that by searching his name on my site]

So the current structure for puppetry is the Mask and Puppetry performance in first year when the students create their own piece- a puppet or a mask, and do a small 'solo' performance of their creation (though 'solo' often involves other people, especially when it comes to puppets) and then this can be followed up in EVP 4 with the choice of physical (circus) or visual (puppetry) theatre.

This years first years have also added two Muppet style puppets to their EVP2 [EDIT from Naomi: EVP 2 refers to the second semester production] touring schools production. It's very easy to add a puppetry element to this production- however the course does not have the ability to provide a lecturer to specifically teach puppetry for this project.
