@Shannon, In what way did the article 'not help you'? Because if you were just looking at the list, and not clicking on any of the links provided, then you would have missed the large descriptions of each kind of puppet - in which case, no wonder it didn't help you. I can't do anything to improve the list if you don't give me more specifics on why it didn't help.

@Algred, glad you like my site and find it useful. A pity about the books, as there are some excellent ones out there on puppetry, and go into far more detail than I ever could in a small blog post. Anyway, good luck with the assignment and thanks!

This is great and this puppets really helped me alot with my assignment. I tried to check into different books, but i did not managed to get the answers until i came on internet. Guys, thank you very much and keep on tour good work.

You may wish to check out my posts on local puppetry companies: http://www.puppetsinmelbourne.com.au/faq.php/2008/01/31/where_to_find_puppet_companies_in_austra and those who run puppet courses/workshops: http://www.puppetsinmelbourne.com.au/faq.php/2007/09/15/puppetry_courses_in_australia Both of those have pretty decent lists of people who would be in Melbourne and do workshops/tours. You can also contact UNIMA Australia, www.unima.org.au, the representative organisation for puppeteers in Oz, and ask them to forward your request to their members. I have no doubt you'll find something suitable for your youth group. On a side note, I'm also a graduate of Swinburne, always nice to meet another alumni.

Your website has proven extremely helpful. I am running a term on puppetry at a youth theatre group in Altona, and it has been a while since I have picked up a puppet (I studied puppetry at Swinburne). You wouldn't know of anyone or any companies that arrange puppeteers to tour and do workshops of any sort? We have our lesson plan for the term, but would be great to have a professional puppeteer speak to the group.
